Pier 39

Pier 39 is my favorite place to go in San Francisco. They have over 100 cute shops that I like to go into. I remember one time I was in a toy store and little toy pigs were running all over the floor! They also have the best restaurants with beautiful views of the bay! My personal favorite restaurant is the Hard Rock Cafe because of all the music. My sister’s favorite part about Pier 39 was the street performers. One of my sisters got to go up and help one of the street performers! My other sister likes to watch the sea lions, but I like to spend time in the aquarium. My parents like how beautiful it is and the cool breeze you get down there.

Also there are a couple of Turbo Rides where you sit in a special seat that moves while you watch a movie. So it’s like you are in the movie! Or you could take a tour out to Alacataz- an inactive prison on a small island. If it gets to chilly outside you could always go into the Riptide Arcade or if the weather is nice, take a magic carpet adventure and then watch a video of your family on the adventure! But whatever you do make sure you bring a camera. Rain or shine Pier 39 has the right event for you!

If you yelled for eight years, seven months and six days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. That is a lot of yelling!
If you fart consistently for six years and nine months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. My dog could probably do that.
Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories per hour!
Right handed people live, on average , nine years longer than left handed people.
Believe it or not, the only place sharks will not eat other sea animals, is what I call the ocean hospital. Small fish will eat diseases right off the sharks, even in their gills and mouth!! So if I was a sea animal, I would be one of those fish.
The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one olive from each salad served in first class. Think of what two olives would do!
Most toothpaste you brush your teeth with has seaweed in it. Yuck!!

Exploratorium

One of my favorite hands on museums is the Exploratorium. This place is great for kids who are at least four. If you go, just outside the museum there is a perfect park with lots of grass, plenty of shade, and a pond for you to have lunch. Inside there is a snack bar and a fun gift shop. From Sacramento it is about 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive to get there. To learn more you can go to http://www.exploratorium.edu.

My two favorite exhibits are when you get to drink out of a toilet and watch a cow’s eye be dissected. I also thought being able to shock yourself was exciting. When I was there I learned a lot of interesting things, and at the same time I had tons of fun.

Chocolate Clouds

What you will need:

3 egg whites, at room temperature

1/8 tsp cream of tartar

3/4 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp HERSHEY’S Cocoa

2 cups (12-ounce package) HERSHEY’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Heat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit . Cover cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in large bowl at high speed of electric mixer until sort peaks form. Gradually add sugar vanilla, beating well after each addition until stiff peaks hold, sugar is dissolved and mixture is glossy. Sift cocoa onto egg white mixture; gently fold just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake 35 to 45 minutes or just until dry. Cool slightly; peel paper from cookies. Store, covered, at room temperature.

Makes 30 cookies

Super Fruit Salad

what you will need:

6 large strawberries chopped

1 banana chopped

1 apple chopped

2 yogurts

Mix in all the fruit. Then mix in the yogurt. Put in the fridge until you are ready to eat.

Must Have Peanut Butter Cookies

What you will need:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup refrigerated Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed

2 eggs

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

Beat butter, peanut butter and sugars until creamy. Beat in eggs. In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir into batter until blended. Refrigerate 1 hour . Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place on baking sheets. Flatten each ball with fork, making a criss-cross pattern. Bake in preheated 375 degrees Fahrenheit oven about 10 minutes or until cookies begin to brown. Do not over bake.

Tip: the type of peanut butter and its temperature matters a lot

Makes 4 dozen cookies

Strawberry Smoothie

ingredients:

1/4 cup chopped strawberry
1/4 cup mashed banana
1/2 cup strawberry yogurt
1 cup orange juice

First, put everything into a blender and then, blend it until it is smooth. Enjoy! If you want a cold smoothie you can put some ice cubes in it while you are blending.

What you will need:

1 cup flour
1/2 liquid starch

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Then kneed in your hands. Have fun! Store in a completely sealed bag. You can also add food coloring for an extra shine or cinnamon for an extra smell! Warning do not eat-even if it smells good!
